House of Heavy Oklahoma reviews
Mixed Bag
House of Heavy is an incredible talent, but unfortunately, I would give the show mixed reviews. Their musicianship is outstanding. I've never seen House of Heavy before, but I've been a lifelong fan. The group of musicians playing with them were terrific. House of Heavy's voice is strong and clear, and all of the numbers were beautifully performed with good energy. They played mostly classic songs, and only covered 2 of their newer, newer material. They seemed completely disconnected from the audience. Everything from their dark glasses to the lack of any direct communication with us spoke to their detachment, and possibly egotism. And then, after a strong 90-minute performance, they suddenly left abruptly. They didn't even return for a bow - no encore! They didn't even introduce individual band members - just kind of waved their hand at them and said "The band." The venue was a total zoo - the Hard Rock Live theatre in Hollywood, FL is totally unprepared for such a large group. The lines of cars were so long we did not have time to eat before the show.
